Sabi Fiction is a space where I share chapters as I write, trying my best to keep my stories alive.
I’ve always loved the concept of Wabi Sabi. When I decided to make this site, and was trying to think of a pen name, I ended up thinking about incorporating this concept as a way to intertwine motivation into the project.
In Wabi Sabi, Sabi is the part that focuses on the following:
Sabi (寂び) is a Japanese aesthetic concept appreciating the beauty of aged, imperfect, or weathered things, evoking quiet melancholy, rustic simplicity, and the passage of time, often linked with loneliness or desolation but transformed into serene elegance, like moss on a stone or a faded, cherished object.
This is the mantra of my site and a reminder to myself that I am not chasing perfection. I am trying my best to foster my writing skills and my stories. Over time, whether finished or not, whether objectively good or not, I will be able to look back fondly on the memories these stories gave me not with harsh judgement, but with the appreciation of the time spent and lessons learned.
